Upcoming Stuff . . . words from the President

Greetings friends!! It was my privilege today (Tuesday) to spend a little quality time at our GHCC Numismatic Lunch Bunch gathering. As usual a good time was had by all. Even though I was a little late I did pick up on some great conversation. The final area of discussion was the one that you might expect it to be, namely the Money Show of the Southwest that is just around the corner. In that regard I want to say how proud I am of the club. Carl, who you know does a yeoman’s task, shared that we have a fine number of volunteers for every day we are committed to the show. He also promises the “best show ever,” which I know will be true. We have a bumper crop of premium dealer from all over. The show sounds more exciting every time I think about it. Even though there are still several holes to fill, for example someone to coordinate the children’s auction, just about everything is covered. Best I can do is to paraphrase that great American Gomer Pyle: “Thank ya’, thank ya’, thank ya’!!!”

This year’s money show will be a great event. I am excited to be there with you. My calendar is such that I will be present for the vast majority of time. I am anxious to catch the spirit and to, perhaps, pick up a few items for my collection as well as some great information to enhance my numismatic awareness.

If you haven’t signed up for those dates, January 18 to 22, please see Carl at the next club meeting . . . which brings me to . . .

December 15th will be our annual Christmas/Holiday celebration. Dinner will be catered from Taqueria Cancun. It’ll be fajitas with all the timings. As you remember from last year their food is outstanding. Ricardo de Leon has promised some genuine home made flan for desert. (My favorite)

Also available will be a “gift exchange.” This is by no means a mandatory thing, but is quite optional. If you choose to participate bring an anonymously wrapped numismatic gift in the area of $15 or more if you chose. It can be anything – coins, useful new supplies, books, tokens, paper money, whatever. Be creative. We’ll exchange during the time between the meeting and the auction. We’ll also have our usual fine program.

‘Nuf said for now . . . have a great week and God Bless . . . and almost Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, or Exceedingly wonderful Holidays, which ever you choose to apply in your case . . . .Richard.
