Members start to gather around 5:00 to socialize, discuss coins and currency, and set out and examine auction items. Some months we have a snack and beverages. At 6:15 we convene, pledge, and introduce our guests and visitors. The program includes:
- Show and Tell - Members show interesting items and explain their significance, each in less than three minutes.
- Quiz - An eclectic five question quiz tests knowledge and memory, and sometimes stirs discussion.
- Educational Presentation - A 25 to 30 minute topical presentation by a knowledgeable club member or invited expert. The speaker usually begins around 7 PM.
- Business - A brief session on Club activities, issues and ideas.
- Adjournment & Auction - The Club meeting offically ends and we take a short break. An auction of members' items is then conducted by one of our knowledgeable and entertaining auctioneers. We usually have between 50 and 80 lots of numismatic items and conclude around 9 PM.
We've posted issues of our national award winning newsletter, "The Double Shift" on this site. You'll see the Club is a varied group, from experts to novices, so come and visit. We have many interests and lots of fun. So will you!
Meeting location:
Houston Community College, Spring Branch, 1010 West Sam Houston Parkway, Eagle Room (by Cashier's Office) Third Thursday of the month.
